As my name may suggest, I am not English and English is not my first language. I am Italian, and yes, I voluntarily embarked on this challenging journey, well aware of the hard path lying ahead, but ready to give my best to it. I am an avid reader, and there are few books out there that do not trigger my interest. However, my favourite literary genres are science-fiction (my favourite sci-fi writer is Philip K. Dick), fantasy (with Tolkien at the top of my list), and mystery (I am a long-time devotee of Agatha Christie and Arthur Conan Doyle). That said, one of my favourite authors is Dostoyevsky, whose Crime and Punishment is the book I love the most. Another literary interest of mine is Scandinavian literature, with my all-time favourite Norwegian author Knut Hamsun, and the most recent discovery Halldor Laxness. Among the Brits, I do idolise Shakespeare, whose Richard II I hold the dearest, and I appreciate both Ishiguro’s and McEwan’s writing. I am always trying to broaden my reading knowledge and never stopping looking for new authors to read and to love. Just to mention some, I read and appreciated the works of Conrad, Gaiman, Murakami, Kipling, Mann, Durrenmatt, and many more. I could continue with my endless stream of writers, but I know it will be tedious, so I end it here by adding my last interest: journalism, especially when connected to the world of music.
I apologise for this rigmarole, but I am known to be the exact opposite of the word “brevity”.
