Christie Watson is a British novelist. Her first novel Tiny Sunbirds, Far Away won the Costa Prize (First Novel) and the Waverton Good Read Award. It is available in nineteen countries. Her second novel, Where Women Are Kings also won international critical acclaim (‘moving… complex…heartbreaking’ (The New York Times)) and has been widely translated.
She writes short fiction, most recently published August 2016 by Walker Books, as well as journalism, and teaches at various institutions. Christie has been a guest speaker for numerous media and political organisations from the Today Programme to the House of Lords, works with Amnesty International and the Department of International Development, and is on the editorial board of Index on Censorship.
